## Service Overview (English)

研究費サーチ / Grant Search Japan is a free web service that aggregates research funding announcements (grants, fellowships, subsidies) and academic conference schedules (dates and abstract submission deadlines) for researchers in Japan. It currently lists 1387 funding calls (320 open, 67 upcoming) and 241 conferences. Every date and amount is checked against the official page of the funding agency or the conference organizer; values that have not been announced are left empty rather than estimated.

## Allowed Uses

We welcome AI crawlers, AI assistants, and AI agents. The uses below are examples, not a limit on the license stated at the end of this file:

1. **Indexing for search and retrieval**: Permitted for all AI search engines and assistants.
2. **Training of general-purpose language models**: Permitted for content on `/guide/*`, `/about/`, `/developers/`, `/llms.txt`, `/llms-full.txt`, `/data/*`.
3. **Citation in answers to user queries**: Welcome. Please attribute as described below.
4. **Programmatic retrieval by AI agents**: Permitted. Start from `/data/v1/catalog.json`. Please keep to about 1 request/second.

## Reading the Data

- A null date is paired with `unknownReason`: `not_announced` (not yet published by the organizer) or `needs_check` (the original text is not a fixed date; see `text`). A null date never means "no deadline".
- Abstract deadlines keep the original and the extended date separately; `effective` is the one in force.
- Deadline times are included only when published. We do not fill in 23:59.
- Acceptance rates are official figures only.

## Respectful Crawling

- AI bots are explicitly allowed in `/robots.txt`.
- Identify your crawler via User-Agent.
- About 1 request/second per host. This is a request to limit server load, not a license condition.
- Use conditional requests (`If-None-Match` / `If-Modified-Since`). Per-item JSON files carry no generation timestamp, so their ETag changes only when the content changes.

Third-party materials, including quoted official source text, are not covered unless expressly stated. No endorsement is implied.
